Fixing Miracast Issue with some Wifi Chipsets
APPLY THIS FIX ONLY IF YOU HAVE ISSUE WITH MIRACAST IN DUAL BAND MODE
Normally wi-fi drivers are set in "automatic band selection mode for 2.4Ghz/5Ghz" and sometimes for bugs of chipset makers, Miracast does not work properly.
Try the following configuration for your Wi-fi adapter card to help fix this issue. This optimisation only works on some wi-fi adapter that support the "preferred band" function.
Go to Windows Settings -> Networking & Internet
Select WiFi Adapter -> Right Click -> Properties
Select “CONFIGURE”
If available -> Choose 2.4GHz as the preferred Band and save configuration
Native Windows Miracast Configuration
Windows Settings -> Home -> System -> Projecting to this PC
Disable Windows Power Saving
Go to Windows Settings -> Home -> System -> Power & Sleep
Firewall Exceptions for Wireless Display feature
How can I add an exception to my Antivirus Application for AirServer.exe process on Valarea Room?
You may have to configure your firewall to allow AirServer.exe process on Valarea Room Windows 10 PC to receive incoming networking traffic. In order to achieve this, you should make a firewall exception for AirServer.exe within your firewall settings.
Also, ensure the same is done on any secondary firewalls your computer may have (Windows Defender for example). Below are some guides to help configure the firewall settings within some of the most common firewall softwares.
Windows Security (Defender) (Windows 10)
Open up Settings from the Start Menu.
Go to "Update & Security" and choose "Windows Security".
Go to "Firewall & Network Protection".
Click on "Allow an app through firewall".
Press "Change settings".
Scroll down to AirServer and make sure it is allowed on both Private and Public networks by ticking the boxes.
Scroll down to mDNS and make sure it is allowed on both Private and Public networks by ticking the boxes.
Press OK and restart the computer.
Norton 360
Double click the Norton 360 icon in your system tray.
Go into Settings.
Choose "Virus and Spyware Protection."
Click the file exclusions tab.
Add an exclusion for C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe
McAfee Security Center
Double-click the task bar icon to open Security Center.
Click Advanced Menu (bottom).
Click Configure (left).
Click Internet & Network (top Left).
Click Advanced (right).
Click Program Permissions (left).
Add permissions for C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe
Kaspersky
Open the Kaspersky application.
Click the Settings button.
In the left part of the Settings window, go to the Advanced Settings tab.
In the left part of the Settings window, select "Threats and Exclusions."
In the right part of the settings window, click the Settings button in the Exclusions section.
In the Trusted Zone window, go to the Trusted applications tab.
In the Trusted Zone window, click the Add button.
Find and select this folder: C:\Program files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe
In the open window, Exclusions for Application, select the settings for the trusted application and give AirServer permissions to send and receive traffic.
Click on the OK button in the Exclusions for Application Window.
Click on the OK button in the Trusted Zone window.
Click the OK button in the Settings Window.
Close the Kaspersky application window.
Symantec Endpoint Protection
You will want to use an Application Trigger for C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe

AVG Internet Security
Double-click the AVG icon on your desktop to open the AVG antivirus
Click the Menu icon in the top right corner and select Settings
Make sure that the General tab is selected from the left panel, then click the downward facing arrow next to Exceptions to expand the section
Select the File paths tab
Press Browse and go to the file path for C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe
Click Add.
Avast Premier or Avast Internet Security
Open the Avast software and select Protection in the left menu.
Choose Firewall
Click on Applications Settings at the bottom of the window
Click on New Group and name it AirServer
Click on New Application Rule and select AirServer
Locate and add C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe
Make sure to allow all connections for C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\AirServer.exe
ESET Endpoint Security
Open up the ESET application and press Setup on the left side in the navigation menu
Select "Toggle Advanced Mode" and press Yes in the dialogue box that appears
Select "Personal firewall" underneath Setup in the left navigation menu
Press "Configure rules and zones..." and press "New" in the window that appears
Enter "AirServer" in the name field. Make sure Direction is set to "Both" and Action set to "Allow"
Go to the "Local" tab and press "Browse..."
Navigate to C:\Program Files\ValareaPOD\Air_Server\ and select AirServer.exe
Go to the "Zone and rule setup" tab and make sure all columns are set to "Allow" within "Zones
Restart your computer
If your firewall is not listed, please contact the maker of that firewall software for the proper procedure. If your firewall came with an instruction manual, the instructions may be detailed there.
