It is recommended to use a Gigabit Ethernet network or higher, or a WiFi network, over a dedicated VLAN. Minimum internet bandwidth: 2 Mbps.

WiFi Network Tips

Wireless networks can be subject to network interference that leads to degradation in quality. We recommend following your wireless equipment vendor's best practices when setting up a wireless connection to improve video and audio quality and the smoothest possible visual collaboration user experience.

Here are some examples of best practices for setting up your wireless network recommended by various manufacturers:

Deploy wireless equipment, such as access points and routers, that can manage and distribute the bandwidth load across all connected devices in the network.

• Use, as far as possible, access points and routers from a single manufacturer to avoid further congesting the radio spectrum.

• Make sure that the wireless equipment is installed in a manner that reduces or eliminates interference from objects and other equipment.

• Make sure the wireless network shows strong signal strength (a Wi-Fi signal that shows full bars is preferred) on Mago and other devices' screens.

• By default, 5 GHz coverage is prioritized for devices to maximize the highest bandwidth.

• Enable band control to ensure that the 5GHz band is always given higher priority when sharing

  the same network name (SSID) as the 2.4 GHz band.

• Keep wireless channel usage below 50%.

• Keep the firmware of your access point and router up to date with the latest firmware versions

  and hotfixes.

• Verify that Mago devices and at least one access point are seen with a signal strength of -60

  dBm or greater. A dBm value closer to zero is preferred. Follow the equipment manufacturer's

  recommendations.

• Implement QoS whenever possible to enable real-time monitoring and troubleshooting.

Bandwidth

Minimum bandwidth: 2 Mbps

When using third-party video conferencing applications, you will need more bandwidth. Users should refer to the guidelines recommended by each manufacturer.

A 1080p video stream requires sufficient bandwidth on both the sending and receiving end for every participant.
