Overview of Mago Essential

Mago Essential is a powerful, all-in-one solution designed to simplify content sharing and presentation in any meeting room or workspace. It allows you to easily share your screen wirelessly from your device, whether you're using a Windows laptop, an Apple device, or an Android phone. You can also connect using an HDMI cable for wired screen sharing (if available). For users who don't have access to the same Wi-Fi network, wireless screen sharing is available independently of your network via magolink.com or via the Mago app for iOS and Android devices.

Mago Essential can be used in different ways:

  • Standalone: Mago Essential works by itself, simply displaying the connection instructions on the screen.

  • With BYOM (Bring Your Own Meeting) Kit: In this mode, you can connect to the room's audio and video peripherals like cameras and microphones for your video calls.

  • Integrated with Room Systems: When integrated into existing room systems like Microsoft Teams or Zoom, Mago Essential becomes accessible via the Share button on the room’s touch controller or the second screen.

Throughout the process, clear on-screen instructions guide you step-by-step in connecting your device, ensuring a hassle-free experience. Whether you're using it in a standalone setup, with the BYOM kit, or as part of a room system, Mago Essential ensures seamless collaboration and easy content sharing in a variety of environments.

What is the difference between BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) and BYOM (Bring Your Own Meeting)?

Screen Mirroring, Presenting, Casting. What’s the difference?

I just want to present!”. That’s a common reaction when trying to show something from your phone or laptop on a larger screen. But when you start searching online, you’re hit with confusing terms like screen mirroring, casting, and wireless presenting. They all seem similar, but they’re not quite the same.

Here’s a simple breakdown:

  • Screen Mirroring / Screen Sharing: Duplicate your entire screen on another display, including everything you see—apps, notifications, and even incoming messages. It's a live reflection of your device.

  • Wireless Presenting: Show specific content—like a PDF, video, or image—on a larger screen, while keeping control from your device. Your private notifications and background activity remain hidden.

  • Wireless Casting: Send content from an app (like YouTube, Spotify, or Chrome) to a bigger screen. Some apps let the receiving device stream directly, while others mirror what you see. It's usually app-based and doesn't always duplicate your whole screen.
